Journal 3: People Like Us

Myself: I’ve never really have given thought as to whether my friends are a diverse group or not. I believe that every one is unique and genuine in their own way. That being said, wouldn’t that constitute as being socially diverse? I look for friends who are genuine and have a personality that fits with me. Color, race, religion and all those factors don’t come into account in my friends. I don’t accept the term “social diversity,” as everyone is unique and diverse in their own way.

Contemporary Music Artist: If a contemporary music artist, I would be very concerned about social diversity. When developing a new song or track, you want something that is universally relatable to many audiences. I would travel around the country and world to find different culture’s perspectives of things and their way of life. Using all that information, social diversity could help me into recording a new song that could be popular which could sell to many audiences.

Thirty Years Older: As a middle aged person, I would’ve experience many of life’s excitements and complexities. In regards to social diversity, I would have naturally been in touch with people of different races and cultures because of the job I wish to withhold as a performing clarinetist in a major orchestra. The culture of America does change slowly as time continues to move, as at this point in time, meeting people of different backgrounds would be second nature.
