research

Last semester i took modern world history since 1815 and one of the requirements was to write 2 1500 word research papers. That being said, I have done research papers generally recently. For my first research paper, Frederick Douglass was my topic. I had to come up with primary sources, as well as secondary sources to encompass all of the material. I learned much and it was neat to hear Frederick Douglass' own words on what he went through. In addition, the other topic I had chosen was from the primary source (book) An American Engineer in Stalin's Russia. It was something I didn't necessarily know a lot about, but was interrested in and was curious and yearning to learn more about. I think this really captures the beauty of a research paper. It allows you to become an expert on that subject and know the in's and out's of everything there is to know about the subject. My best advice would be to choose a subject that you're not too familiar with, but are definitely interested in. It will make the research process be fascinating rather than a torturous assignment. I knew that I was done researching once I knew everything there was on the subject and I felt that I could answer any questions that the prompt my pose.
