I think that the media in general today is much more focused on physical atractivness and appearence. Women are objectivied for their appearnce a little more harshly than men. In my mind it is just the nature of girls. Girls are far more competitive when it comes to fashion and looks and whats in and what is not. I am not saying that there is not pressure for men to improve their appearnce. In the media today, looks are becoming far more important for men than ever before. For men, how you look says a lot about you. For example, guys who are physically in shape show that they care about their body. For men, it is important that they do not feel inferior. If affection was based on intellectual strenght, every man would try learn as much as he can. Since the media prizes men with a healthy body, men work on their appearnce because for the most part it is how peole judge them. Overall, i think women are objectivied more than men in the media but the men are not far behind.
