Journal 7 - Writing Style
Until reading Kurt Vonnegut's "How To Write With Style" I had honestly never given any thought to my style. I have been writing for more than a decade now and upon close examination, my writing style reveals a great deal about me without having to delve deep into my semantics and sentence formulae. I definitely think my style changes depending on whom my audience is. If I am writing a research paper, or a journal prompt response, or an email to my friend, my style varies greatly. Not only does my style change, but my format, grammar, punctuations, and various other subtleties do so as well. When I really think about my style, my style has definitely evolved from a base set point of how my personality is and how my mind works. My writing style tends to be very methodical, precise, and definitive; probably lacking in feeling and emotion most the time. I tend to state facts, comparisons, and categorizations while leaving out sometimes essential heart, depth, and bias.
