Out of mind, but always on the page.

I don't tend to think about my writing style as I write any essay/assignment/what have you. I try to make a point in any formal paper or essay I write to never write in the way I speak. So, things like contractions (don'ts, ain'ts... though why anyone uses the second of those, I'll never understand), little known slang terms, and incomplete sentences are always a no-no. But in more informal writing styles such as these journals, I tend to write in a normal speech pattern.
No matter what I'm writing, I try to use  a wide vocabulary. It keeps the sentence flow in my papers free of monotony. I also make a conscious effort to switch up my choice of sentence structre and length, again in hopes of keeping the reading new.
Even though I don't specifically think of my writing style as I write, I believe I have a distinct or at least a consistent one. I tend to be wordy... probably excessively so at times. My style tends to have more of a dark humor, not in the violent sense, but highly sarcastic. If I am writing a story there is sure to be a significant amount of imagery and narrative. Again it is unconscious, so the style of writing I use is really more of my personality than an effort.
