men and subjectivity with media

I don’t really see men as being objectified like women. With women, we are always self conscious about what we are wearing, what we look like and what others think. With men, they don’t really seem to care much about appearance. I mean yeah they want to be muscular for the ladies but I don’t really see them as always comparing themselves to other people. The two minds of men and women completely differ. When girls are with their friends they look at magazines and all the super models that they wish they could look like. Men look at similar magazines but instead of looking at other men, they are checking out the girls. The media does play a minor role with subjectifying men in some way, but not nearly as badly as they do women. With men they put all of the good looking stars that all of the girls want to date. With seeing men like that they want to be like them so they too can get all of the girls. Women have to look to the models in their magazines and the playmates in men magazine. We have three different things to worry about, what we think of ourselves as well as what men think of us and what other girls think. I know it shouldn’t matter what other girls think but it plays a big role in our way of thinking, if we are accepted by other girls then we can feel a little better about you.
