Males and the Media

The simple answer is no, males aren't objectified in the same ways as women. It is true the same tactics used on women to sell products to make "them beautiful" are also put on men to make them "get girls", but the way women have been objectified completely overshadows males. Both share similarities, such as a the "perfect female or male" is one with a great body, lean, and with no flaws. However, men don't "care" as much as women about being "perfect". Women on the other hand, always care about how they look and how they could look better. Thus selling to women is a lot easier because they are constantly looking on ways to improve themselves. Hence why women are objectified basically based on sexiness and allure rather than males who often get commoditized with sports, beer, women, etc. In today's society everywhere you look women are objectified based on their body and looks, they are used as ways to arouse man through ads to by something as unrelated as beer or a car. Women growing up have the pressure to conform to the looks that the media advertises as the "perfect" women. Men are not objectified mainly for their body as women are.
