I feel that in our society today, both males and females are objectified. However, I feel that females have it a lot harder than males, since females traditionally had more focus than males did on their body and appearance. But recently males have had the pressure on them rise. Men in the media are showed as being muscular and powerful and strong. Nowadays, some men have developed “bigorexia”, which is the desire to lift weight excessively in order to get super strong. I feel that men feel just as insecure as women about their appearances, but men just hide their insecurities better and don’t focus on them as much. Women feel like they have to be flawless and have the perfect weight, perfect skin, etc. because so many women in t.v. and movies look this way. But many people don’t realize they look this way because photos have been greatly altered. I think women just focus more so than guys do on their appearance and looks.
